Graceann Warn Debut’s New Body of Work

Friday, May 7th, 2010

“Spring Happening”, Kaiser Suidan’s annual group artist event at Next Step Studios will preview a new body of work by Graceann Warn. Recently her paintings have taken on a new exuberance in color and gesture following a long period of studio work including the completion of a large commissioned painting for Yale-New Haven Hospitals. The “Spring Happening” event will also include the official opening of Next Step’s new sculpture garden featuring ceramic artists Mark Chatterly and Susan Beiner’s work. There will be live music and drinks to compliment this fantastic art event.

A little background on Graceann Warn: she grew up in a small town in New Jersey, where the thought of making a living as an artist had never crossed her mind. She had intended on making a career as a Landscape Architect receiving her degree in that field from U of M in Ann Arbor. After a chance encounter and a rather intense emotional response to viewing a Mark Rothko art exhibit she realized her true calling and decided to become an artist. She merged beautifully with the Ann Arbor artist’s culture and has been one of the lucky ones to make a living solely off of her art. Currently her artistic focus has been on using bright colors in her work such as vibrant reds and explosive oranges.

This year Graceann has been extremely busy with gallery shows scheduled all over the country including Lenox, Massachusetts, Wellfleet Massachusetts, Lincoln, Nebraska, and the critically acclaimed SOFA Chicago art gala at Navy Pier. She will be ending the year with a big solo exhibit starting on November 13th at the River Gallery in Chelsea, MI. The solo exhibit will remain up until January of 2011.

Don’t miss out on “Spring Happenings,” at Next Step Studios in Ferndale located at 530 Hilton between 8 and 9 mile. The event is Free and begins at 6pm and goes till midnight. Graceann Warn

Graceann Warn: Ann Arbor Artist to be Featured at the 16th Annual SOFA Chicago Art Gala at Navy Pier

Friday November 6th – Sunday November 8th

Chicago IL – Graceann Warn’s work will be displayed at the critically acclaimed SOFA Chicago art gala at Navy Pier.

SOFA Chicago is the longest continuously running art fair in Chicago which first debuted at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in 1994. This prestigious event has steadily grown larger over the years and averages about 100 galleries and dealers that are showcased.

Graceann Warn grew up in a small town in New Jersey, where the thought never crossed her mind that she could make a living as an artist. She went to the University of Michigan for Landscape Architecture; little did she know that this was not meant to be her future. A little while after being hired at a private office in Ann Arbor, she was sent to attend an Urban Design Conference in Minneapolis. While there she entered the Walter Art Center and into the exhibition of the last paintings of Mark Rothko. The overwhelming flood of emotions that overcame her brought tears to her eyes. After that experience her life changed within a year. She came home, rented a small studio, and started to focus on her own paintings. She merged beautifully with the Ann Arbor artist’s culture and has been one of the lucky one’s to make a living solely off of her art. She’s been calling her latest works “modern paintings with common objects.” Her art will also be featured at the prestigious Architectural Digest show on March 18th- 21st, 2010 in New York City as part of the Made exhibit. To experience Graceann’s work go to www.graceannwarn.com

Graceann will be displaying her work at SOFA as part of Next Step Studios which is located in Ferndale Michigan. Next Step is owned and run by the talented artist Kaiser Suidan. His unique style is inspired by the geometrical forms found in nature, this has caught the eye of exclusive clientele such as Compuware and he has even had an installation featured on the set of the television show Will & Grace.
